Buchla’s mental modular synths

Chris Wickett / Blog / Thu 15th Jan 2009 22:21 pm

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this… thing(?) from Buchla was a control panel for some sort of monstrous underground nuclear facility.

But, in fact, the device isn’t used to hyper-accelerate sub-atomic particles underground in Geneva, but to make music.

…OK, so perhaps it doesn’t exactly make ‘music’, but it certainly sounds pretty epic. And in the hands of a CERN scientist I’d imagine it’d be devastating.

Congratulations to Buchla for creating one of the coolest looking (and sounding) modular synths we’ve ever seen.
